Access Denied or Permission Issues
You see an 'Access Denied' error or can't perform an action you expect to be able to do.
In this article you'll learn about Check your role, then explore Space-specific access, and finally review SSO / login issues.
Check your role
Your role determines what you can do in Links. To check your current role:
Profile icon (top-right) → Profile → Role
If your role is lower than expected, contact your workspace Admin to update it at Settings → Team → [Your name] → Edit Role.
| Your Role | Common "Access Denied" causes |
|---|---|
| Viewer | Trying to make a booking |
| Member | Trying to edit or cancel a space |
| Manager | Trying to manage billing or devices |
Space-specific access
Even if you have the Member role, individual spaces can be restricted to specific groups. If you can't book a specific space:
- You may not be in the group allowed to book it
- The space may be in maintenance / archived
- The space may require manager approval and the booking is in Pending state
Ask your Admin to check Spaces → [Space] → Access and add you to the allowed groups.
SSO / login issues
If you can log in but your permissions seem wrong after switching to SSO:
- Your SSO identity may not match your original Links account email
- Ask your Admin to manually merge accounts: Settings → Team → [User] → Merge Account
- Or delete the old account and use your SSO identity as the primary
Settings → Security → SSO → User Mapping → Verify mappings
