Managing Devices & Displays
Pair, configure, and monitor room displays, e-ink panels, and floor map screens.
We start with Supported device types, move on to Pairing a device, cover Display templates, and wrap up with Device health monitoring.
Supported device types
Links supports three device categories:
| Type | Use Case | Recommended Hardware |
|---|---|---|
| Booking Display | Room entrance panel — show current booking, allow ad-hoc booking | iPad 9th gen+, Samsung Galaxy Tab |
| E-ink Panel | Low-power door display — status at a glance | Paperang E4, Visionect Sign |
| Floor Screen | Lobby / floor overview map | Any Android TV or commercial display |
All devices run the Links Screen App, downloadable from links.io/apps.
Pairing a device
To pair a new device:
- Open the Links Screen App on the device
- The app shows a 6-digit activation code
- In your Links dashboard: Dashboard → Devices → + Pair Device
- Enter the activation code and select the space to assign the device to
- Choose a template (Booking Display, Status Only, etc.)
- Click Activate
The device transitions from setup mode to live display within 10 seconds.
Display templates
Templates control what the display shows. Built-in templates:
- Booking Display — room name, current/next booking, available time slots, QR quick-book
- Status Only — large color-coded availability indicator (minimal, for e-ink)
- Digital Signage — scrolling announcements + room status (lobby use)
- Floor Map — live occupancy map for the entire floor
Use the Screen Designer (/tools/screen-designer) to create custom templates with full drag-and-drop control.
Device health monitoring
All devices report health metrics every minute:
| Metric | Description |
|---|---|
| Online/Offline | Last heartbeat within 2 minutes |
| Battery | Percentage (for wireless/e-ink devices) |
| App Version | Current vs. latest available |
| Last Sync | Time of last successful content refresh |
Set up alerts in Settings → Notifications → Device Alerts to get notified when a device goes offline.
