How Billing Works
Understand billing cycles, proration, invoices, and how charges appear on your statement.
In this article you'll learn about Billing cycle, then explore Proration, and finally review Invoice breakdown.
Billing cycle
Links bills monthly (or annually at a 20% discount). Your billing cycle starts on the date you entered your payment method and becomes a paid subscriber.
Example: If you subscribe on March 15, your billing cycle runs March 15 → April 14, and you're invoiced on April 15.
Proration
When you upgrade mid-cycle, you're charged only for the remaining days at the new plan rate, minus what you already paid for that period.
Example:
- 30-day billing cycle, day 15 upgrade from Starter ($49/mo) to Business ($149/mo)
- Remaining 15 days on Business = $149 × (15/30) = $74.50
- Credit for unused Starter days = $49 × (15/30) = $24.50
- Net charge at upgrade = $50.00
Proration credits appear as a line item on the next invoice.
